I just had an eye exam this week. The doctor tested my lenses and told me the glasses were not the prescription he had given me 2.5 years ago. I went right to Lenscrafters where the glasses had been made and told this t the shift supervisor, the highest ranking management person on duty. She brought the glasses in the back to their lab and confirmed they were not the same as the prescription. There was no doubt that the glasses were made by Lenscrafters. She checked the computer only to discover there was no record of any of my progressive lenses prescriptions in my file, and no notations had been made about this problem in the computer file. She also told me their files were purged every two years.

She offered me a 50% discount on my new pair of glasses. Since I am a member of AAA I had already received a 30% discount, so she was essentially offering me a 20% discount. I explained this to her, and she said I would have to talk to a manager, because that was all she was authorized to do.

Two days later the General Manager, Allison Zak, called me and said because the problem was so old, she was standing by the shift supervisor's offer. I told her what I had been through over the pas t 2 years with the lenses. I explained that I dismissed the possibility of there being an error in their workmanship, based on the technicians' reactions to my many visits. They just kept re-adjusting. I also explained that it was not my responsibility that her employees had not documented this in their computer system.

She made a second offer. Using my old frames, she would make a new pair of lenses correct to the 2.5 year old prescription!!! She knew my prescription had changed since that time. How stupid is that!!! Now she convinced herself she had given me two choices. I told her I, nor anyone in my family, would ever do business with Lenscrafters again. Additionally, I told her to credit my VISA account 20% and I would pursue this further.

HISTORY: 2 years ago Lenscrafters filled my prescription for a pair of progressive lenses eye glasses. Progressive lenses do need adjustment from time to time. I began to feel that the number of times I was going in for adjustments was excessive, and expressed this to many of the technicians who waited on me. After about a year, one of them suggested I may need a sturdier frame, as I had selected a frame with only top rims. I purchased another pair of glasses, with a sturdier (and much more expensive) frame, and had them lenses made from the same prescription because it had only been on e year since my eye exam. All of this was 100% paid out of my pocket. I continued to have difficulty seeing with the glasses and continued to go in for adjustments. No technicians ever suggested there may be a problem with the prescription, they just kept adjusting'.
