I went to pay on my Kaufmann's bill at the Midway Mall location on the due date (1-10) and asked to make sure it would be creditted for this day. "Yes" they told me. I asked if I could use my gift card ($15) as part of the payment. I was told "Yes". So I gave them my gift card and a check for $10 to cover the $25 payment required. Everything seemed fine!
Upon receiving my next statement, I noticed that I had been charged a $25 late fee because, they stated, I was $15 past due. Upon examining my statement, I noticed that they had given me an "account credit" for the $15 instead of using it as part of my payment. This made them believe that I was $15 behind in my payment thus charging me a $25 late fee.
I have written to the company and am waiting to hear from them but wanted to let others know of this problem and to make sure you check your statement to make sure you aren't being "ripped off"!!
