Visa gift card has wrong name, no reply from support

I recently purchased a Visa gift card from www.giftcards.com. The website had a very professional appearance and seemed like a good place to entrust with my Christmas online shopping. Boy, was I wrong. To my dismay, the card arrived with the wrong name on it.

I first tried to contact the website through its email help service and its phone number to correct the issue quickly, so that I could still give the gift to my girlfriend's younger cousin, age 13, in time for Christmas. I received no response after 3 days from either attempt. It was now 6 days before Christmas. Our only hope was that they could void it and send a new one, because a return would no longer make it in time for Christmas.

I enlisted the help of my girlfriend, and we both tried contacting the company several times over the next week. We left our contact information and an urgent message in the automated voicemail, explaining the situation and pleading that we needed to get this resolved before Christmas. The voicemail actually registered as full at one point, so we waited until they emptied it and began calling again. Neither of us received any response. Although their website advertises business hours for the phone number, we never actually got to speak to a human being, not once.

At this point we felt scammed. How can you run a business with no way to contact it? They have the means to take money from the customer, but they cannot seem to grasp the concept of making sure the customer is satisfied with the product afterward, or even of affording the opportunity to try.

To this day we are still trying to contact them and have received not one response, not one real person on the phone, and not one email reply. We are just looking for a refund. We ended up giving my girlfriend's cousin a 50 dollar bill for Christmas, which is not nearly as fun as using a credit card when you are 13 years old. It seems this company does not care about the customer once they have your money. Now I have a useless $50 Visa gift card that I cannot use because it is in the wrong name.

Stay away from this company for your future gift card purchases. Thank God I did not ask for a Visa gift card for more than fifty bucks.
