Garden Center Door Locked 20 Minutes Before Closing Time

I walked into the Garden Center 20 minutes to closing, said hi to the cashier, and piled up 7 50-lb bags of topsoil on my cart about 40 feet from the checkout. Then I heard the outer door running shut and the padlock click, and the cashier was walking through the inner store door without a word.

After standing at the cashier's next to the closed door for five minutes hoping for a return, I left the 350 lbs of soil at the door and walked through the store and out the front door, vowing to go to Lowe's Monday night at the same time and purchase 14 50-lb bags of topsoil.
