Home Depot
Never Again - Door installation

Electronics and household app.

I wanted to replace my wooden front door with a fiberglass door. Although I always deal with Lowes, I went to Home Depot because of their better selection of 'in-stock' doors. We chose our door and were told that we would be contacted the next day to set up a measurement time. 2 days later we received a call and the guy came the next week. When he came, we were charged money to remove the trim around the door because we were not told to have it off for the measuring. I called the store to inquire about the fee and was reassured that it would be taken off the installation fee since we were not informed of that requirement. I asked how long the process would take and was told that they had 24 hours to 'build' the door once they received the measurements. A week later when I had not heard from them, I called back.
I was told that there was a note on my account to call as there was no record of which door we wanted. We went back to the store to show them which door we wanted and requested that they put a rush on the installation now that it had been 2 weeks since we first started the process. Their contractor was very uncooperative in the scheduling but begrudgingly agreed to come out the next week. When that day came, it was misting rain 30 miles from our house so he refused to come install calling it a safety issue. It never rained at our house the entire day. The install was rescheduled for 2 weeks later as we were out of town. The morning of the 2nd attempt at install someone from the store called and informed us that they had inadvertently sold our door and they had no more in stock. I have to say that at this point I was wondering why I was being allowed to fall through the cracks when I was trying to spend $1000. I was offered a different door, but I was not about to 1) accept a door I'd never seen 2) accept a darker door that would not match my house. I told him that we would be coming to the store to cancel the entire install and get our money back. 10 minutes later I received another call from the store saying they had located the same door I paid for at a store 1 hour away. I told them if they could install that day then fine. 30 minutes later they called back saying that the installer was unable to do that. So we went to the store and canceled the install, got our money back and went to Lowes. Within 5 hours we had received 3 phone calls from Lowes and a installation date & time, something Home Depot took 2-1/2 weeks to accomplish & only because I kept calling back to nag them. NEVER AGAIN will I do business with Home Depot and I'm making sure everyone I know is aware of how badly this entire store handled this situation.
