SMCFD #1 Superstition Mountains CFD uses godfatheresque methods to make septic tank owners sign that they are "desirous to receive sewer services"

We were really surprised that it is legal in the "Land of the Free" to intimidate and threaten people to sign "agreements".

Previously we had seen this only in certain mafia-movies when business owners are offered "insurance agreements" from agents with loaded weapons.

We bought a rental property that is connected to a septic tank about 2 1/2 years ago and were pretty surprised when we started to receive bills from SMCFD #1 for "sewer services" a few months after closing. Neither the seller nor the title company had disclosed that one of the previous owners had signed a so called "Petition" with SMFD, saying that the owner of the property would have to pay sewer fees regardless of not being connected to the sewer.

We started to make the payments of $ 32 to the sewer company and went to court against the seller of the property for not disclosing this material fact.

Now, years later, we have received a letter from Carolyn Garverick from SMCFD that says that the property where we are living in (and that is connected to the public sewer line) would be disconnected and declared uninhabitable if we would not sign an application for sewer services. We were also forced to sign an agreement saying that we are "desirous to receive sewer services" for the rental property. If we would not sign this agreement for the investment property we would be evicted from the home were we are living in.

5 days after receiving the letter from Mrs. Garverick we found a fluorescent note attached to our fence saying: "A disconnection order has been issued" We had to sign the application and the "Agreement" that would say that we desired sewer services for the other home the same day without any other options.
