Freeport Water and Sewer Commission Water Utility Rip Off - Terrible Accounting, Refuses to issue detailed billing or change name on accounts when properties sell

The City of Freeport Water & Sewer Commission is engaged in rampant fraud and routinely overcharges customers. They refuse to change accounts over when properties are sold. The town is full of rental/investment properties and the City of Freeport has figured out they can overcharge these property owners and get a piece of the rental income. It is nothing more than a mafia like tactic.in fact rumors in the town are that the Mafia is involved in city government. It would be no surprise. We have over 10 billing accounts with this utility company and they will not issue detailed bills so we can audit the account for inaccuracies. They misapply payments often and they will not change accounts in to the proper and legal name of the property owner even when legal documentation is submitted to them. They will not discontinue service at a property upon request and they will continue billing monthly in order to generate revenue from investors and other property owners in Freeport. There is NO customer service - they will refuse to speak with you - they do not honor requests from customers and they seldom answer their phone. There is no website, no email address, no ability to check anything online. On top of that they will routinely disconnect water service based on unpaid bills for other properties that are no longer owned by our company. Avoid this utility company and the City of Freeport. You will lose money constantly due to practices like this within city government in Freeport Illinois.
