Miscellaneous

A person with an indian voice rang me last Thursday morning, 26/01, saying that she had been informed by microsoft that my computer had serious viruses and errors and that if I did nothing about it the consequences would be dire. They assured me that they would help "for free". This person called herself "Sandra Lawrence" - funny indian name when I thought about it. She called herself a "software engineer", and sent me a piece of software to control my computer. She then proceeded to manipulate my computer and showed me an area that said I have over 5200 errors. She then advised that she could not right these errors etc and that only a software technician could solve the problems. I was very worried about my computer - I am 66 years old and I am not very aware of computer matters. I have physical and mental health problems and I was pressured into allowing them to charge £99.99 for 1 years subscription to their company.in fact, they took £98.96 out of my account - changed it after I reported the incident to my bank asking them to stop a cheque for £99.99 - very clever. They told me that their office address was "HelpPConline", 3 Midhurst Close, Ifield, Crawley, West Sussex, RH11 0BS. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THEY ALLEGEDLY HAVE A "HEAD OFFICE" at Office 4, Century House, Rear Ground Floor, Leicester, LE2 0QS. I felt very pressured throughout the telephone call which must have lasted 40 minutes and this alleged Sandra Lawrence just continually talking. I have sent letters of complaint to both offices demanding my money back but I may not get this money back. I noticed some online comments about this company where others have had similar experiences.
