Miscellaneous

I just needed to move my Microsoft Office software from a defunct computer to a new one. My software version allows it to be installed on up to 3 computers. The program installed fine on the new computer but could not be activated (as required by Microsoft) because it would be the 4th computer. I called Microsoft and was referred to Omnitech. I simply asked them to deactivate the activation on the defunct computer so I could activate it on the new one.
They took control of my computer and insisted on scanning my computer with their special scanner. It reported about 2000 problems which they insisted needed to be "corrected", with a $249.00 price tag. They did bring the price down, but it still was over $100.00. I felt like I was being scammed with what appears to be Ransom-ware.
2000 problems on a new computer??? Three hours wasted.
