I had was having problems with the configuration of my computer and after not being able to solve the problem sent the error report to Microsoft, which was the option given to me. That was on 28/11. I was contacted telephonically the next day by an Indian man who said he was from Microsoft, Long Island USA, and that he would assist me. I could see that he was physically "working" on my screen and managed to convince me that my Computer was totally corrupt and would soon crash! Many warnings flashed on my screen, all with the Microsoft logo and I was impressed with the professionalism of these people. He said that hackers were able to hack in since I only had the free version of AVG. I was then asked to deposit the above amount into Global Collect B. V, Absa Bank 9144791277, Sandton, using the reference 410004926299 to enable them to immediately download a "Dominer - Crypt Package". They also needed my details and UNFORTUNATELY I filled in a form which popped up on my screen, giving my account details!!! A fool is born every day! On the evening of 29/11 I felt uneasy about what I had done and immediately cancelled my card with Standard Bank. I have tried to get a contact for Global Collect to no avail. I have received no programme and the problems on my computer persist - so nothing has happened and they have my money! Is there any way of getting my money back? How safe is my computer if they were able to work on it the way they did? Please help!
