Request for refund

A colleage and I travelled from Monrovia enroute to Miami, Florida through Atlanta to attend a three days course in Public Accounting, with the Pahlasingh Accountnacy and Consultancy Firm, of which the cost of the course was us$ 2,250 per person (US$750.00 per day). We were originally scheduled to have left Atlanta by 7:30 am, but the flight was cancelled and rescheduled for 1:30 pm and by the time we reached Miami, The first day lesson was over, eventhough it was paid for in advance. It is possible for Delta to refund us given the actual impression that we have provided?
