Unable to hold connecting flight

On May 8, my mother was on her return flight to Wichita, Ks. From Miami, FL. My mother, had a connecting flight in Atlanta, GA. Which was due to depart at 9:30 pm. My mother's flight from Miami, FL. Arived at 9:00pm which would had given her ample time to catch her connecting flight, instead due to complications, there was limited space on the tar-mat for travelers to disimbark their flight to catch their connecting flight, and Delta claims they were unable to hold the connecting flight to Wichita. This caused pssengers to be delayed, and all Delta offered to compensate was a discounted price at the nearest hotel, until the next flight at 11:50am the next day May 9 "mother's day". This has caused for my mother to loose a day's work. I am expectig a response from Delta and expect that they would compensate me for my troubles.in this triyng economic times where someone spends hard earned money the least we should expect is customer satisfaction. Whatever happened to customers comes first? I can honestly say I will think twice the next time any of my family members or myself travel, to use "Delta airlines or any of it's subsidiaries". Again I expect to be compensated for all my troubles.
