Scamming the pay check to pay check family household

On Sept. 27, a sales rep from "Countryside Meats" came to My door. She offered me what seemed to be a great deal on a purchase of Beef. I told her I had no money, She said they accepted Food Stamps, I said, "ok, but I do not receive My stamps until the 15th of Oct.

She said, "that is just fine, write me out a "bogus" check Make it out to her, and I will contact You on the 15th of Oct. For Your Food Stamp info. I did indeed write out a check, yet wrote on it twice "DO NOT CASH". Yet for some reason, My bank, Markesan State bank, ignored this and went ahead and cashed this anyway. I at this time questioned her several times, asking if She could be trusted. She repeatedly assured Me that this was an absolute "safe transaction" and My check would NEVER be actually cashed"I checked My online bank account today and was horrified to discover that this woman had in fact cashed My check, which put Me and My family nearly $93.00 to the bad. I NEVER write bad checks, and am scared to death due to this occurrence. We are NOT wealthy people, this is why we do receive Food Stamps as it is. I have contacted the company and begged them to reimburse My money, I will be more than happy to pay w / the Food Stamps. I have also contacted the bank, asking them "Why would You ever cash a check that said twice, (and underlined) "DO NOT CASH".. Not much of a response there though. I am at this time, awaiting a call from the book keeping dept. Of My bank. I myself am very ill, and worse than that, I have a sick disabled daughter, both of us require meds and at this time, due to this, can NOT afford them, as we now have NO money to our name!
