They make it impossible to cancel your service even if it expires. You can cancel any time you want but you will not be able to leave Vonage or escpae them charging you. THIS COMPANY WILL STEAL FROM YOU just because they can. My 2 year contract expired 7/31/09. So they couldn't charge me a cancellation fee. However, I called anyway on 6/29/09 (from another, non-Vonage phone) and agent said I had to talk to a supervisor to cancel. I told her my contract would expire anyway at the end of July. She said talking to a supervisor was mandatory and that I could have another month (July) free even if I wanted to cancel. I said ok and waited on hold for the supervisor. Guess what? After a long wait - no supervisor.

Agent finally came back and said since I took a free month I would have to call back on or after 7/29/09 to cancel. I said I no longer wanted the free month and wanted to cancel right now. This is all in one phone call. She said it couldn't be done since she already programmed-in the extra free month. She said only a supervisor could canel it. I told her the supervisor doesn't answer the phone. She said I would just have to continue to call back. So I called back on 7/29/09 to cancel. Guess what? No supervisor but this time I got into their voice mail and asserted "I cancel" and that my contract expires on 7/31/09 anyway. Didn't matter: they've charged me $329 since 7/31/09 - and they know I don't have service with them and I don't have a contract with them. They even hit my credit card twice in one month for $44.28 (in November).

DO BUSINESS WITH THESE RIPOFFS AT YOUR OWN PERIL. P.S., the quality of phone calls (e.G., echos, dropped calls, being unable to hear callers) is at the suck level.
