Kept retainer fee $ 3620.00 claiming that lender wouldn't provide Loan Modification and they did what they could!

We contracted with this company to help us facilitate a Loan Modification for our primary residence. Everything was great when we first started out: they said we qualified and that they would help us. First red flag was that they didn't start approaching my lender until they recieved the second installment of our retainer agreement. They said they couldn't promise any results but after four months I was getting worried as I kept getting these generic emails claiming that they were working on my case. Finally I wrote them and stated I wanted to speak in person. The next day I get a call claiming I was declined because my lender (BofA) servicing my loans, private lender was not participating in loan modifications.
They said there's nothing more they could do. No refund, no help, no advice, see-ya bye! I've been looking into litigation (SB-94) which prevents anyone from collection up front fees. This situation I described could happen to anyone in my position. Do not pay up front retainer fees period!
This company is heartless and claims there worked hard for the money I paid. No report, no file was turned over to me and I'm not sure what they ever did. I'd stay clear of them, they look good on paper but you can see what happened to me
