Metreopolitan Marketing Concepts
Still owes me over three hundred dollars! They are liars and crooks!

Miscellaneous

Metropolitan Marketing Concepts is a joke of a company. I was employed by them for a little over 1 month before I realized they were ripping me off. Similar to other claims about this company on this site I submitted my application through a very popular job site. The same day I submitted it, I received a call from a women who said she was the HR manager and she would like to set up an interview with me. I set one up for the following week. I arrived at the building which is an old rundown warehouse which looks like it should have been shut down a long time ago. When I first entered the building I was actually nervous. Most of the offices were "under construction" Including the office I was going to. Their sign was not hung on the door but lying on the floor. When I entered the office There were multiple people sitting in chairs with two desks and one women sitting at one of the desks. There was a huge flat screen TV in the front of the room but no other decorations anywhere else. The women behind the desk handed me a clip board told me to fill out the papers and took my resume. Within minutes I was called back to meet with the "president" of the company again going along with other claims, he look and acted very cool and was no more then 26 years old. He told me a whole long winded story about the company totally hyping them up, making them seem like the next best thing, all lies. After the interview he told me he was going to send me over to a Sams Club for a second interview. I was very excited because this was going great and I was told I was being interviewed for an advertising internship, also a lie. I went over to the Sams Club where I was put to work for over and hour, without pay. I should have ran then. I was hired the next day and started work the following week. I was told the base pay was minimum wage or 20% commission on anything I sold, whichever was higher. To my knowledge base pay in MN is 7.15 an hour, yet somehow this company pays there employees 5.25 an hour. I went to work selling make up in Sams Clubs. I sold quite a few but we never clocked in for our hours. I worked over 10 hr days sometimes driving all over the Twin Cities. For how much I sold my first check after two weeks should have been just over five hundred dollars but when I received my check it was only 167 dollars. I contacted my manager and he claimed it was because of returns on the makeup I had sold, LIES! My second week of pay was also missing from my check. I was told I would receive it on my next check, LIES!!! I worked for another two weeks and kept track of every hour I worked and everything I sold. My next check not only did not have my missing week of pay on it, it also was missing another whole week plus it equaled out to less than 5.25 and hour. Needless to say I was very mad. I went into the office and I brought with all the paper work I had been keeping track of with everything I sold and what I worked. I gave it to the "HR manager". She said that I was right and I would get paid what I deserve. The following week I was told they wanted to "cross train" me to a different part of their company. This was supposed to be a very good thing. After that I was stuck in a Home Depot trying to get people to set up appointments for cabinet refacing. Keep in mind this was supposed to be an advertising internship which also counted as a class for me because I am a student. Well, selling cabinet refacing appointments does not meet the qualifications of an advertising internship. Within two days of being at Home Depot, I quit. I contacted my manager who told me he would send me the rest of my pay in the mail. So they still owed me for four weeks of work. This includes the two missing weeks I never received pay for. THe following week after I quit I received a check for 3 hundred dollars and another for 93 dollars. I compared it with all of my hours and things I had sold and I was still missing one whole week which ads up to over 3 hundred dollars. I contacted this company AGAIN through e-mail I told them exactly what they still owed me. I received an e-mail back claiming my numbers did not match up with "corporates" numbers and as of that time they were all caught up on paychecks for employees. Non of this was true. I tried to go after them but to take them to small claims court over this would pretty much cost just as much as they STILL OWE me. This company should be shut down!!! They are scam artists and they should be sued because I know I am not the only one they owe money to!!! Dont fall victim to them like i did!!! Do research before you start working at ANY COMPANY!!! This company is an absolut joke!!!
