Ripoff took money from employee checks for missing inventory with fear of termination and didnt pay for hours worked

I worked for Tropi Tan for almost a year and a half at the Grand Blanc road salon, and the Genesys Athletic Club Salon. The last 6 months was a nightmare. First, money was coming up missing from nightly deposits over the weekend. Management decided to take all of that money out of every employee's check who worked that weekend. It happened again, at least 3 more times. Then inventory came up missing. Bottles of tanning lotion, swimsuits, and more and more money came out of employee's paychecks to cover these missing items. They didn't do anything to find out who was doing this, just take money from innocent people.

I read up on the subject of taking money out of employees paychecks and unless it is for government purposes it is illegal. We would be forced to sign "incident reports" that read "Charging all employees for missing %. Deduct $%. May lead to termination." Etc. We were fearful that if we did not sign them, we would be fired. And using fear to collect money from your employees is very low.

Shortly after all of this money was taken from our checks, I learned that we were not being paid for our hours worked. We clock into a computer which logs our hours for the week, and then a manager at each salon will total the hours and send them in to corporate. We would have to be clocked in at least 10 minutes before our shift started (If it started at 4, you would have to be clocked in by 3:50: 00), otherwise we would have to sign "incident reports." More than one led to docked pay, weeks suspension, then finally termination. Unfortunately, we were not paid for these 10 minutes we were there. And if you work 5-6 days a week, that's almost an hour worth of pay. And at the end of our shift, we were told to stay at least a half hour after close to complete our cleaning and bookwork.

If we closed at 10:00, and we were clocked out at 10:15. Too bad, you weren't getting paid those last 15 minutes you were working because they round down. Again, those hours of work add up, and we weren't paid for them. My last paycheck I received was shorted at least 6 hours of work. I counted my hours on my personal schedule and they equaled 36. I was only paid for 30.

I would love to receive the money I should have been paid, but I know this is impossible since I had worked there for so long. This company does not care about their employees, and would do anything to make money. I want everyone to know how low the owner and management is for this company. They may be "clean" and "new", but what they have done to their employees doesn't even come close to making them a good business.
