Account Closure Delayed by Repeated Notarization Requirements

Outsourcing. Bad decision. At least not for customer service. There is not a single place to get all the information you need. I wanted to close one of my accounts and cash out the balance.

Thursday: I was told I could not close the account because the balance is more than 2K. Later on Thursday I realized they had still put a block on my account. So now my money is stuck.

Friday: I called to inquire why, and I was told they would need to research and would let me know on Tuesday. (Ha. It takes more than 48 hours to read call logs. Efficient.)

Tuesday: Late at night I called them. The supervisor did not know anything about my conversation on Friday. I was asked to write a letter to the branch requesting to close my account, with my account number, amount, address and instructions to mail the balance. So I did that and spent $17 to overnight the letter.

Monday (next week): The letter was returned to me saying I need to get it notarized. NOTE THAT THIS IS ALL THAT IS MENTIONED IN THE LETTER.

Monday night: I called customer service and spoke with the supervisor again to make sure that is all I need to send. 15 minutes later the guy came back saying, oh, you also need your wife to sign the letter AND HAVE HER SIGNATURE NOTARIZED AS WELL. Remember, none of this was mentioned to me until today. If I had followed the instructions on the letter, they would have rejected that as well.
