Terrible customer service - Brookstone return policies and rude customer service

I bought $800 worth of items for Christmas 2008. Two of these items were for family members that lived far away. They were the wrong size and didn't work as expected. I contacted the company to return these items 10 days after their allowed 30 day return policy. The two people I spoke with on the phone were not helpful and rude. I also sent an email to customer service, requesting that because it was Christmas and the gift recipients were far away and I had just received the items back from them to return, could I at least return them for store credit. All I got back was a formula e-mail stating their return policies. I have shopped there for years but not only will I never go there again, I am going to make sure I tell as many people how awful the company and to also not shop there.
