Half-Balance Settlement Offer of $99.76 for Unreturned Modem

Afni, Inc. Has offered a settlement of one-half of what Verizon says I owe.$99.76 is the adjusted figure. I have told both the phone company and Afni that I returned the modem but it was so long before I received notice of the charge that I didn't have any documents to prove my claim.

I tried to explain to both companies but neither one cared. They have put this bill on my credit report. I am not sure what I should do at this point.
