Doctor And Staff Build Up Bill Scam

I had taken our dog Lucy to a local Vet to be checked for a broken paw. It was a Saturday around noon time. As we entered I spoke to the nurse at the counter and advised her that Lucy has a broken paw. She was a little rude and told me to have a seat! And they will see us when it was our turn?
(thats when I should have walked out) Lucy and I waited for an hour then the nurse came out and looked at Lucy and stated she will live! Its just a broke paw we get this all the time. I was told to fill out paperwork and to pay $90.00 up front? We did not even see a Doctor yet. But I did what I was asked to do. After two more hours we was asked to come to the exam room.
The nurse weighed Lucy (only 10pds) The Doctor comes in and does not even touch Lucy and says its a broken paw it should only take a an hour or two to cast it and you can take her home. I was a little pleased to here she would be ok, but he never touched her? Two more hours go by and I was asked how would I be paying for the work that would be done. I asked well how much does it cost? I was told $900.00 was needed to get it done! WOW I aked for details and was told I could go some place different! By this time it was late and we was waiting for a long time so I called my wife to ask her if we should go ahead I am out of work no job. And to see if we had that kind of money, which we did not. Then I asked if there was a state or county aid to help people like us with out jobs or money to spare. Again I was told to leave. (I should have) Again I held back and asked well how can I pay the money when I don't have it all. The nurse stated that they have a CREDIT CARD that I can apply for (BAMMM) this is how they got me. So I filled out the paperwork and was informed NO with-out a job the service will not let it go through. (My wife co-signed and it went through) Now we have been there for almost five hours (Poor Lucy) the nurse came and had taken Lucy in the back and we was informed to go home and they will call us in a couple of hours to pick Lucy up. We did just that.By 9:30pm we had no call? So I call and speak to the on duty nurse and she says Lucy is not in any danger and is in line and would be next. So we waited still no return call 1:00am I call back and no one answered! I told my wife we was in trouble and this Vet is building up the BILL. Next morning my wife calls and was told they will call us back they are in a shift change? What change no one answered??? At 1:00am
we waited for an hour so my wife called back and was told that Lucy was still in line but was hooked up to an IV for the pain? Its now 24hours exact that Lucy has not been taken care of. I ask to speak to a MGR. And was told if I wanted to pick Lucy up it would cost $1,414.40!!! Or they will keep her!!!
I went into a black out rage... My wife asked if she could pay the $990.00 and get Lucy. The nurse said ok. Wife picked up Lucy and was told that another coat had come up that was not on her desk at the time speaking to us and we had to pay another $214.00 for??? They placed a split on Lucy and sent her home with no MEDS for pain! And a bill of $1,628.40
This needs to stop I am asking for any and all help with this these Vet is building up the BILL on people. We was never asked if we wanted Lucy to stay? We was never told it would be until Tuesday until the Ortho came in to do the job!!! And there would be more money for him to do his job. How much ($3,800.00) just for him. SO a broken paw would cost a total of $5,428.40
Please Please help us stop this business people are paying these people LARGE sums of money for nothing. I contacted the BBB for our area and still waiting. Please advise on what to do we have no money to pay for there credit card. This is where they hit us is with that credit card scam.
