Rude, yelling, refusing to help, cutthroat, being unfairly ripped-off

About two years ago, my credit card acct was sold to SSt card services in Columbus, Georgia, (without asking me). Several months later, I was told I had a late payment, even though I thought I sent it on time. This is the only late payment I have had. My interest rate shot immediately to 28.99 %. I have suffered through this for well over a year now, paying a very heavy cash penalty. Twice I have called to try and work out a plan to pay off the account timely by getting the interest rate lowered. Both times I was coldly and flatly refused. Today 6-9-08 I called, explaining I was trying to avoid filing bankruptcy by getting the percentage rate lowered and/or set up a monthly payment that I could live with. The man I spoke with-"Jamie" was immediately rude and started yelling at me. He yelled that the interest rate is not lowered for anyone. He said they were running a business, not a bank. He also did not want to connect with someone in charge above him. He yelled that it stops with him. I have never been talked to so rudely. It is more than obvious to me that they are in the cutthroat business of ripping everyone off and could care less about people who are trying to be responsible.
