Thaey keep trying!

Last year this company sent me a letter about money that I supposedly owed. Being very concerned I called them and they said it was a CHASE account that I had and did not finish paying off. I asked them for an account number which was a number I did not recall. I called Chase myself and they said that I owed them no monies at all! The account number they gave me did not even match up with anything they had. The rep from Chase said they would never give a past due account to anyone. They handle this themselves. I called Cadle back and they kept insisting there was monies owed on this account. They could not provide me with the original paperwork or information they received from the company they supposedly obtained this account from. I called CHASE again and they said once again there was absolutely nothing showing that there was money that I owed. I ceased communicating with them and they left me alone. Well now another rep has sent me a letter requesting different options to pay this "account" off. Mind you this all according to them was an account from 1998!!! It is now 10 years later!!!
How can I put a stop to this harrassing nonsense!!! I have read about this company and there fraudulent cases against others and how they scare people in to paying for things that are way past the statute of limitations. Can somebody advise or help me?
