Plumber Ripoff Artists at $400.00 Per Hou

1. HMS Plumbing did appear at my house on November 12, with the intention of installing a new gas burner for a fireplace, but came unprepared without the proper tools for the installation. I loaned the plumber my tools and lantern to work in the fireplace.

2. HMS Plumbing did not remove the old burner, which was removed weeks before and was recycled by our regular refuse and recycling service, yet HMS Plumbing said they had to charge for removing it.

3. Upon finding that the new burner was defective, the plumber returned the fireplace to its otherwise cold and dark condition. Only the gas pipe fittings, which were already installed, and a piece of flex hose which was too long to be of any use was left behind. HMS Plumbing claimed that they had left valuable fittings and parts.

4. The plumber also used a pipe dope substance which was smeared onto the threads of fittings. This substance is no longer used with gas fittings because it can work its way into the gas lines, thus being a safety hazard.instead pipe joint tape should have been used as it was when the new gas burner was installed by another plumber.

5. Since no service was rendered by HMS Plumbing except to note that the new gas burner was defective, there should be a greatly reduced charge for the visit instead of charging $400.00 per hour for no service at all.
