My name is jan. Have been a customer of direct tv for 4 years. Not sure why we stayed. First let me say we changed to HD receiver/service 10/06. Since that day we have had trouble almost everyday or more. The services goes out. I have had 7 service calls now since 10/07. I have had 5 receivers delivered, new dish installed, new wiring and those monkeys (mastac-who handles the service) cannot still figure it out. The last service guy told us we have poor service due to NFL on Sundays!
Not sure what that means.

On 10/28/07 I spoke with a supervisor name Valdmore or Validmere (cant understand when they have poor diction). He stated he decided, to send out a NEW receiver instead of the REFURBISHED ones. He said lets trouble shoot. I agreed and thought this was good customer service. What I found out that the sneaky part of what they do (direct tv) they extend your contract another year because they sent out a NEW HD receiver.

This was aft 4 broken ones in ONE month time. I feel that was the least they could offer. They do not tell you that you will need to have their service for another year. I am going to contact our local consumer TV channel in Charlotte, NC. There are two stations that would love this story. I have documentation for the last year and everyone that I ahve spoken to. 12/6/07 I called tech support.

Again even the new receiver was still going out. They decided to send ANOTHER kind of HD receiver. When the man brought them yesterday, I called customer service to make certain this will not extend my contract. Some lady-rude as anything (could not understand her diction either) said yes mamn you will extend your contract. She said your contract was extended in Oct when we first send a new one. I was yelling at this crazy woman who has the poorest customer service.

Bottom line, is that I am willing to take this as far as I can to get the public aware of this low down unfair treatment from Direct TV. Forget BBB, call your local media, they will love this story.
