Wish I had done my homework

The sales pitch they made was very compelling and I was impressed with John and Paul. Unfortunately, the results were less impressive.

For the first meeting they gave me an extensive homework assignment and a deadline. I completed this and met the deadline, but they didn't seem to have even taken a moment to review... But that was ok because it was a positive meeting... I think because they were getting my first payment.

I was promised a draft of a "new" resume before the second meeting.

Well, the second meeting was scheduled and then rescheduled by them. I am a contractor where I am and having to juggle the schedule forced me to cancel meetings at work, but I promised them that I was as serious about my search as they claimed to be so I rescheduled and then rescheduled again when my employer balked at the first time... HPF gave me grief about this... I thought the customer was always right.

So the second meeting comes along and Paul says he didn't get the e-mail I sent him with the homework... Funny he said this twice more.in this meeting I said that I had not received the draft... He promised to fix this. We talked about story telling (with 10 years of public speaking on a resume that they didn't read) which wasn't very useful. However, Paul promised (and I confirmed them by repeating them verbally to him at the end of the conversation) that he would be speaking with a lead the next day about me, that he would get me specifics about companies that he would be approaching on my behalf, that he would call me the next day with a status, and that I would get a draft of my "new" resume.

I waited two days and heard nothing. I called to follow up and nothing. I called again and nothing. I called a third time and nothing. I called a fourth time and a receptionist told me that Paul had been out and that he would call me that day... He called the next day and again promised a draft of the resume... Which I got... But it was wrong.

I didn't get any feedback on the supposed meeting, I didn't get any list of companies and the resume listed me as still employed at the company that I had exhaustively explained my departure from. I asked that they correct it... Which they never did. I was told that all future meetings would be by phone, but they were never scheduled because I could never reach Paul again.

So I e-mailed Paul who promised me a corrected resume. I got a draft with the wrong employment dates a third time... I wouldn't have cared but I was paying them to do it. I finally made the changes myself and returened the corrected draft to me.

Finally, I got fed up and called Paul. He wasn't there (surprise!) and I left a message. I called again and he wasn't there. Finally, on the third call, I got John who claimed to know nothing of my issues (I didn't really believe that). John asked me to send an e-mail, which I did.

Ultimately, I asked for a response to my e-mail. Never got anything. Sent another e-mail proposing a refund... Got nothing. Finally, I promised to post a report on this site and report them to the BBB and they threatened their lawyer and called my request for a refund whimsical. They stood by the terms of their contract even though they failed to deliver anything of value to me.

So, I was probably the easiest $2,450 that they ever made. They didn't live up to th expectation that they set. They make a great presentation and I think that they mean well, but in my opinion they didn't deliver for me.
