Portfolio Recovery Associates Portfolio Recovery Continues To Harrass, Using Illegal Tactics and False Information

Well, I have been getting harrassed by these people for at least a year and a half. I have asked them several times to provide me with proof that I owe money. I closed my credit card account years ago, I believe it is over 7yrs. Not that is matters because I did not have a balance on the card. The most I had ever charged on the card is $1,000. PRA says I owe over $4,000. I nicely asked them to give me the itemized bill, along with all of the payments I had made when I had the card, the woman on the phone started yelling at me "We can't afford to look all that information up" we just know you owe it, "Don't you know you owe it?" she exclaimed. I stated no, and hung up on her since she started getting nasty with me. I then called the credit card company, Citibank. That is the only card I had ever had, to date, I only use my debit card. Citibank informed me that I was not in their database at all! I gave them my social security #, and they said, We do not have any record of you as ever even been a customer. I guess they don't keep records after 7yrs. I then told them that I was being harrassed and that it was PRA. The woman on the phone at Citibank said I should seek legal advice. I continue to get the phone calls, and I am at my wits end. I reported them to the FTC, but the FTC does not do anything. Does anyone know if they are going to get these scam artists ONCE AND FOR ALL??
