Portfolio Recovery Associates
Portfolio is trying to collect a debt I don't owe!

A few months ago, I received a call from Portfolio Recovery Associates demanding that I pay over $2,000 for a debt they say I owed to Capital One. I had a Capital One card over 12 years ago, but had paid off and closed the account. I explained this to the rep from Portfolio and they insisted that I owe this. I told them that I am 75 years old and have never in my life owed a credit card company that much money. I have been on a fixed income for many years and could never be approved for that kind of money.

The Portfolio rep had access to all of my private information including my social security number and any account numbers I ever had. This concerned me so I contacted Capital One and a lady their named Maureen said that my account was paid and that I did not owe anything and had not owed anything for many years.

The next time Portfolio called, I explained this to them and offered to give them Maureen's number to contact. They refused to call her and insisted that I pay this debt. I explained to them that I do not owe this money and asked them not to call me again. They said they would send me a dispute package, but never did.

I now receive at least 4 phone calls from this company each week and they are rude to me each time and have called me a liar as well as hung up on me. I have requested they not call me numerous times and they still make these harrassing and rude calls at least 4 times a week. They are now telling me that these calls are going to get worse.

I know I don't owe this money and Capital One has verified this for me!
