Collect America Debt Collector Ripoff

In Feb., I received a call from a man named Dan from Cambece Law. He instructed me that my husband owed Collect America $4,990, a debt from Providian that had been charged off the weekend before. He told me that we must pay the full amount immediately. After getting very upset, and asking if we could make payments, he transferred me to his manager, Nick, who was very aggressive with me and told me we would be sued if the account was not settled. He suggested that I get money from family or my retirement, which I can't. He called back to talk to my husband and then began telling my husband that he should have taken care of his debt.

Nick called my husband's work the next day and cursed his boss. We got a lawyer to send them a letter to stop the calls and set up an payment agreement. The first payment was returned due to lack of funds, but I sent the money by wire the next day. We went for six months making payments and then I had another return, but again I wired the money the next day. Then this week, they call my lawyer and tell him there is a problem and gets permission to call me... Not my husband. They say they can't do the payments anymore and want the balance now or they will sue. I hung up on the guy cause he was getting loud. I called back an hour later to tell them I would up the payments and do it by wire each time... But they said because I hung up on them they went ahead and asked Collect America if they could take legal action and they agreed with in thirty minutes... They the guy said that If I could come up with the money by the next day they would stop the action.

I can't talk to them anymore because they get me so upset and they are calling me... Not my husband who owes the money. They called today and I just did not answer them. My husband is going to call and offer the increase by wire tonight, but I am terrified of them... I feel like my world is crumbling. HELP! Can they take my home?
