Fraudlent advertising Rush charges for non rush delivery

Miscellaneous

During a Sunday football game in late January, an advertisement came on for Lens Doctor, a product said to repair scratches in eye glasses. If you called right then, you would get an extra bottle. The offer was for $14.95 plus shipping & handling. It was nightmare ordering it - I had to scream into the phone and it took a very long time.

After I placed the order I realized that I had inadvertantly requested "Rush" delivery due to the phrasing of their ordering process. I tried to call the given number for customer service the next day but could never get through - on hold for over 20 minutes.

About three weeks later I received a message on my answering machine that had no identification of company nor product, saying that "my order" had been delayed. They left a toll free number saying that I was to call back if I had questions. Since I had no idea what product the call referred to, I returned the call.

After identifying myself, I was told that the order was going to be delayed and I mentioned the fact that I would like to cancel the "rush" order and since it was three weeks later, I hardly call that "rushed". When told I could not do that, I was then told that the total was over $60.00! I asked if I could cancel my order and was told that I could not.

After being informed that the charge was so bogus, I told them I would be calling my credit card company to refuse the sale. The CSR told me to just wait until I received my order and "call" them. Turns out that I was charged for two bottles, the rush charge and a delivery fee for the "complimentary binoculars" that had been advertised with the order (which I had specifically said NO to!)

I called my credit card company and they told me to decline the order and send them my complaint and proof of refusal of the delivery so that I did not have the product in my possession. The package finally arrived yesterday so that I can decline it and get the proof to the credit card company.

It was only today after punching in the telephone number listed on the return address that I realized that it was on the complaint. Companies like these give the reputable ones a bad name.
