Miscellaneous

I signed lease contract for the Leaf based upon assurances that the car would go 100 miles on a charge so my regular commute of 62 miles was no issue. That afternoon lost charged miles at an alarming rate I called in a panic numerous times. Ended up returning to dealer to charge before I could make it home. My panicked calls were answered with explanations I was not driving car correctly, it was getting used to my driving patterns, I needed a full charge (left dealer with a 93 mile charge not the full 106 mile charge), I would gain back miles after I changed to different gear. Bottom line it was my issue, not the car. As soon as I drove the car properly I would get the 100 miles and be able to make it to work and back home on a charge. Took car back next day to check and fully charge. Was told again I needed to learn to drive the car correctly and get a full charge then I would get the 100 miles. Never happened could not make my commute and found out that charged miles are lost if radio is on, accelerating, driving inclines, if air-conditioning or heater is on, if outside temperate very hot, etc. Etc. None of this was told to me before I signed the lease. I was told to call Nissan Consumer Affairs by Glendale Nissan. Nissan Consumer Affairs told me after 3 calls that it was not their issue. The dealer is an independent business in the business of selling cars—not a sales channel for Nissan. The web site is the sales channel for Nissan. The "dealer can tell you anything they wish to sell a car". Nissan has no responsibility. I turned the car back in within 5 days with 400 miles on the odometer. Glendale Nissan has refused to return any monies. I was told that they would give me a "really good deal" if I bought another car from them. There were also irregularities and outright deception by the finance manager on the contract, which they also refused to address. They are an "independent business just like Best Buy. If I dislike the Sony TV I bought at Best Buy I should go to Sony, not Best Buy". I would never have signed a contract for the Leaf had they been honest-instead I received half-truths and outright lies. I have asked for the value of my trade-in (valued by them at $7500) returned to me. This was refused. The full cost of the lease was paid off and Glendale got my car.
