DVR Doesnt recording everyshow and remote doesnt work all the time - dvr issues

Have called Direct TV 4 times about my DVR not recording shows properly, and the 1st rep said id get a new one if it happened again. Well 3 more times after calling and spending time on getting it fixed or replaced and nothing. Told me it would cost money to get a new one.
