My name is Saundra Latner. I receive social security disability. This is sent to me via a social security MasterCard.in November I called Direct-TV to cancel my service as I was moving and asked them to come pick up their equipment but one month later they had not. I called and sent a letter to them telling that I had their equipment and my new address where they could pick it up and mail my final bill. As of the first of February I had not heard anything from them either by phone or mail. All other mail has been forwarded to my new address with no problems. While out of town I tried to access my funds so I could return home to be told that my card had a zero balance. It was discovered that without any notification Direct-TV had taken a total of $534.37 off my card for payment of the so called final bill that I was never notified of. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with three different people trying to resolve this issue to no avail. Every time I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told that none were available and that it would do no good as they would also tell me that I would have to dispute this charge in writing. I have been left with no money to get home or to live on for the next month with the only hope of maybe this can be solved by filing a complaint with their dispute department. I tried to explain that had I been notified I would have made payment arrangements but that there is no possible way to pay this off in one lump sum. The only response I received from three different people was "I'm sorry." I feel that this is final rip-off as I have had to argue every month that they were doubling my bill from what I was told when I first signed up with them. I do not know where to turn or what to do.
