I purchased some furniture through a website that uses Fedex to ship. I requested it be sent to my local Fedex. I was notified when it shipped (thanks to the store I ordered it from) but heard nothing after that (even though I requested shipping updates via text messages). I finally went to fedex website and located the tracking. It appeared as though it had been delivered. I went to pick it up and was told it wasn't there. Then, a few days later I called the local fedex again and was told it was there but they were shipping it back THAT DAY because they'd only hold it 5 days. I was unable to get there today to pick it up. Nothing I said (that I had been there to pick it up earlier and was told it wasn't there) made any difference and I needed to call the 1 800# because it was "policy". At least I wasn't on hold and my call was answered right away and the main fedex office called the local one to give them "permission" to hold it. Fedex, in some situations, should give the local office authority to overstep rules in favor of the customer. Had I not called TODAY the package would have been sent back and I would have been REALLY mad. Fedex needs to improve communication and relax their "policies" which are definitely NOT in favor of the consumer. Whenever possible, I will avoid using Fedex.
