Webroot Software
Automatic renewal charges based on tricky "auathorization"

Internet & Web

I noticed a charge on my credit card for $41.15 for Webroot Software - supposedly for the automatic renewal of antivirus software. I might have bought it some time ago, I can't remember now. I suspect that I did not notice a tiny box and small letters text that had to be unchecked in order to stop automatic renewal. So they are covered, but what a sleazy way of trying to trick careless customer like me and hoping the charges will not be noticed. They were almost successful - only by a chance their charge was the first today... I could suggest them another trick - do not charge your customer on weekend - the banks do not work on weekend so charges show up on Monday, easy to spot.

To be fair: I called Webroot and they removed the charges, I wasted just one hour.
