Charged me a different price than they told me, charged me a second time without my authorization, computer software was pirated

Internet & Web

On March 25 I went to an expo sale in Spartanburg, SC to look for some deals on computers. I am a student in college and a new mother so I am always trying to find the best deal I can.

I reached the computer section of the expo center and a man of Russian decent approached me and was telling me all the software he would add to the computer for me for free. I selected a 21" HP monitor and an HP tower, which he said was the fastest one there. I asked him how much total the computer would be and he told me $443.76. I told him I really wasn't wanting to spend that much because for $100 more I could buy a brand new one. He calculated on his calculator for a second and then said, "Ok for you I will do $375". So of course I jumped on that deal.

I went to catch up with my husband to bring him back to the section with me. I told the salesman I was ready to purchase the computer we discussed. He filled out a receipt with all the specifications but didn't write the price on it, my fault for falling for that one. He assured me there was a 3 year warranty on the new monitor and a 60 day warranty for the tower. I signed the receipt and he told me to wait about 30 minutes so they could add the software to it.

I got it home and the mouse wouldn't move on the monitor. I called the company numerous times and all I got was the voicemail. No one has yet to call me back. I called the HP customer service about the warranty and shockingly discovered my tower was 4 years old and not under any warranty. I got fed up and called a technician to figure out the problem, it was a software problem due to piracy and had numerous other software errors than needed to be removed and reinstalled (which cost me $199 extra).

After having a technician fix the software problems the computer works fine, but I checked my bank statements to see if my payment had cleared and I saw my payment of $443.76 to compu-electronics and also another debit of $53.00 WHICH I DID NOT AUTHORIZE AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS FOR. I have no clue how they pulled this one off but I ONLY ENTERED MY PIN ONCE FOR THE COMPUTER AND THAT WAS THE ONLY TRANSACTION. Now I am having to go through the hassle of cancelling my debit card to make sure they don't keep taking money.

I am sure they are already at the next town scamming but I will DEFINATELY be going back to the expo sale this weekend to see if they are still there and if so I hope they will straighten this out. After reading all the other reviews, many of them the same problems over and over, I don't see how they aren't in jail or at the least out of business. People please do not fall for this unless you have money to throw away.
