Shut down my computer until software was purchased

Claiming that Microsoft had found a virus in my computer, this company froze my computer until I plurchased their software. They are operaating from Azerbaizan I found out from my credit card bank. I was alerted when today (1014) I had a foreign exchange card. I called Microsoft and was told that they do not support this company. As I had purchased the softward & it released my computer, the credit card could do nothing. I think everyone should be alerted. I haave read that there are scam artists operating out of this country.
