Computer optimization ripoff

Useless service, did not do what they promised.

Bought new computer, opted for "optimization service" for $24.00. Salescreep claimed the service removed ads from the computer (they get paid to put the ads on, then paid again to remove them). Also claimed they would remove pop-ups, install XP service packs, add latest virus updates, get windows updates. All in 15 minutes.

XP service pack already comes installed.

I asked if they can give me a list of what they do. Sales creep said technician would give me that. Technician said he could not give me a list, but I could watch.

After 45 minutes, they were finished. They installed only 5 windows updates, did some registry tweaks, maybe turned off windows messenger. I know cause I watched them. Watched them let our couputer sit idle that is. I asked the guy why he did not get all the updatates. He only did the ones that prevent 'the worm', and that all updates would take an hour.

It took us 1 hour and 20 minutes to get from "we'll buy this", through the service plan pitches, thru this waste of time optimization" and out the door. We hated the experience.

$2000! For crappty service. Do not got there. It is a hussle.
