Tech Sam, installs illegal software on computer

I am a local computer tech in the Orlando area. I received a job through which I contract with.

When I arrived on site, the computer was a brand new system in which he purchased from a "Sam". I asked how much he paid for the system. He told me roughly $900.00. I looked at the computer and I asked for an Invoice. The customer replied "The guy did not give me one." He did explain that the guy wrote down a few things on a piece of paper.

As I am looking around the computer I notice there is not a COA on the box. This raised a few flags. I asked the customer who install windows? He replied "They did" and informed he only installed a few programs. I contacted Microsoft to find out with version of Microsoft XP Professional he had installed. (OEM, retail, etc) It turned out he had a "Magic" copy of Windows, or a corporate version installed. (This is ILLEGAL)

I contacted PC Paramedics and asked what was going on. They informed me they use the license off the old computer. If that was the case they would have needed to use an OEM disk and use the license. They failed to do that. They were lazy and installed a bootlegged copy.

This makes me very upset, how someone could take advantage over someone. If you have used them in the past I would urge you to contact Microsoft (1 (800) RU-LEGIT) to make sure your running a legal version. Just because you get updates does not mean its legal.
