FPWEB Buyer Beware! Unfair Cancellation Policy!

Internet & Web

Short and simply,
We signed up for a Hosted Sharepoint Site through FPweb.net. We prepaid via credit card for 1 year of service. We quit using it after 5 months because it just didn't work for our business. We overlooked cancelling the service until we received an invoice at the renewal time of 1 year which had been charged to our credit card. We called to let them know we wanted to cancel and weren't using the service and had forgotten to cancel since we didn't get a monthly bill or anything. Their answer to this was that they couldn't refund anything on a prepaid account. That was their policy. The CEO and CFO were both presented with a very polite explanation of what happened, and yet they both felt the right, fair thing to do was to quote thier "Policy". NO REFUND!
Unbelievable. They actually want to keep a year's payment from a customer who has not, and will not be using their services?!
I requested a copy of where this was stated in a policy or agreement that I accepted. I have yet to receive a copy. But I have been told that everything that could be done has been tried by a very nice, understanding and helpful customer service representative, (thank you April).
This may be legal, but it certainly isn't the right thing to do. My main reason for posting this story is just as a warning to those who might be interested in this type of service. If they are going to steal my money, I want people to at least be able to know how they stole it, so they can protect themselves from the same fate.
