Rebate promise ripoff

I bought a mobile phone from Amazon.com (model Handspring Treo-180). This item had a declared $200 rebate. I duly filled in the rebate form, with original UPC etc. I still have not received my check in 10 MONTHS!!!
I have contacted Amazon.com numerous times.interestingly, there is no way to contact them except to leave a comment about their website.
Only once did I get a reply stating that rebates are handled by a different company called rebatestatus, and that I should be patient.
I think passing on the buck to a different company is a cheap trick for a company like Amazon.com. Not to talk about having no place on their website to leave grievances/complaints of this sort.
