Toshiba PSM50U-06Q01V Laptop nic card works intermittently. The first time they sent the laptop to the Camera Center for repair. Lost it for 2 months in 2006. Nic card works then quits. NIC LIGHTS ARE GREEN, BUT RED X IN LOWER RIGHT NIC ICON! Returned for repair again. Supposedly updated drivers and repaired. SO NOW IT WORKS! Still worked intermittently. I THINK IT'S A MOTHERBOARD PROBLEM CHEAT SQUAD! Returned for repair again. Sent to DIFFERENT service center. The tech said drivers were updated AND NOW WORKS. Yet when the laptop was provided to Best Buy, It was a virgin XP SP3 install with all the latest drivers available from Toshiba website. The tech sent it back working by updating the driver SO they confirmed it didn't work all the time because they fixed it by updating the driver. IT ALREADY HAD THE LATEST AVAILABLE DRIVER INSTALLED WHEN GIVEN TO BEST BUY! The head tech, JDG, (ten friends at NASA), then said I needed to buy a cooling pad as I WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO USE IT IN MY LAP. LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE! I guess Toshiba and BEST BUY are misrepresenting their product as it's a BENCHTOP? Desktop? Not LAPTOP. They need sued for false advertising and mismarked product. They sold me a laptop warranty for a BENCHTOP?:) The latest line of BS is it's my router or wiring. The other 2 computers on the same router had no problems. I use a belkin cable tester that I got during my A and Cisco training for my cables. The light on the back of the laptop and router were both green. No connectivity problems there. The nic card in lower right still had the RED X.in order to restart the nic you had to restart the pc multiple times, or reinstall the NIC CARD DRIVER, and then restart the pc, OR shut the laptop off and try later. It has the same problems when used at 5 other locations in 4 different cities by multiple users. The latest line of BS is purely misrepresenting the products and warranties. I'm not supposed to use my laptop in my lap, and buy a cooling pad to fix it! Can you believe that? My opinion is; best buy screwed me on my bonus points, my toshiba rebate, (they lied to me at point of sale), and sold me my worthless warranty. All i can say is never buy at best buy fix it or replace it, best buy! Did you ever notice their lcd hdtvs are in the dark to look better?
