Walmart Netscape Internet Service
Ridiculous Policy - Unenforceable

My 73 year old father has Walmart-Netscape internet service. 3 weeks ago he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He is alive but has many symptoms that make it difficult for him to talk on the phone (including hard of hearing, breathing problems and confusion).
He asked me to call and cancel his internet account as he had someone throw away his computer as he is physically unable to use it anymore.

I called with all the information (name, account number, email address, mode of payment, etc.) Was told that they had to talk to him to cancel.

I explained situation and was told that I needed to wait until he was dead and could prove it or get a power of attorney and fax it to them before I would be allowed to cancel his internet subscription.

I tried to reason with them and told them I was trying to do the right thing. I could just as easily had a male member of my family call and pretend to be my father.
This is absolutely ridiculous. I have heard people say that it is impossible to cancel—guess not even dying is a good enough excuse.
