Mail Order Battery Rip Off

Internet & Web

I had a horrible experience with BatteryJunction.com. It was so bad that I took time out of my day to write this. I ordered two batteries from them which came to $3.20. They also added on a charge of $8.26 to mail these two tiny batteries.

I put the batteries in my smoke detector and within a week it started beeping. I called the security company out and they said the batteries were weak. I emailed BatteryJunciton.com to let them know I'd be sending the batteries back and they said they could not offer a refund. Here is a direct quote from their email to me." If an item does not meet with your satisfaction for any reason, you are welcome to return it." However they refused to offer me a refund. I told them if they didn't refund my money I'd post negative feedback about them on the internet and dispute the charge on my credit card. They reluctantly agreed to refund my money.

I went to the post office to mail the batteries back and sent them certified mail which cost $3.00. To my surprise I received an email from them stating they had credited my credit card $3.20. I paid them $11.46 for the batteries. They told me that they don't refund shipping costs. So, I paid them a total of $14.46 for two batteries and received $3.20 back which leaves me in the negative $11.26. First of all it is wrong to make me pay shipping to return defective merchandise to them but to also charge me $8.26 to mail two tiny batteries is a rip off. There is no way it could have cost them that much to mail the batteries since I sent them certified mail for $3.00. I will NEVER do business with this company again. Beware.
