Circuit City City Assure Protection Plan
Honoring Protection Plan PLUS with accidental damage

I purchased a HP laptop from Circuit City along with the extended warranty covering for accidental damage in September. Although I didn't have any accidental damages, I have had several problems with the warranty and the company not adhering to the terms of the warranty.

The first time it got sent in was in February for issues with the fan. It was making a loud lawn-mower type noise. The fan never got replaced, just cleaned and I received the computer back with a wiped out hard drive and no recovery disk, therefore having to purchase one. When I turned it on the day I received it back, the noise was still present so it immediately was sent back again. Again, it was only cleaned.

Shortly thereafter, the fan was making the same noise. I sent it out and they wiped the hard drive clean and said it was a software issue. Again, the fan was only cleaned.

I didn't have any problems for a few months until the fan made the same noise and after being powered off it wouldn't turn back on. I brought the computer into a Circuit City store as instructed, only to find out that it needed to be sent out again and that their repair department doesn't communicate with the warranty company. After going out of my way and hours on the phone I was told I would have to send it out again.

When I sent it out the motherboard was supposedly replaced. After talking to customer service today I found out the motherboard was not in fact replaced, but the fan was.

The reason I called today was because my computer wasn't reading the power cord so I turned it off with a full battery. When I went to turn it on hours later it wouldn't turn on. The technician over the phone only said that he would send me a new power cord. There is apparently something defective with this computer. I have done my part of the warranty by paying, yet I am not being serviced the way my contract says I should be serviced.
