Ripoff fraud, Fooling the cosumer into thiniking they are getting a new compter when they use old parts to build it. Gateway gets you by the short hairs North Sioux

In Dec. 1999 my Mother bought a compter from Gateway. The actual price she paid was $2029.90. It was suppose to be brand new. She paid cash for it.

Recently a PCI card had to be replaced, which is understandable, after five years things wear out. When my son put in the new part there was a label on the old part that fell off and under the label it said it was a refurbished part. My point is that when you buy something, that you are lead to believe is brand new and then you find they used refurbished parts to build it, it is a "RIP OFF" and it is "FRAUD".

I do not believe after 5 years we have a case. I do want to warn other people not to get ripped off by Gateway, thinking they are getting a new product, when they are not.

Gateway has you by the short hairs, even if the computer was only a few years old. There is a sticker on the tower that states "If this seal is broken, your warranty is null and void". If you replace the part yourself, you have no proof it came from them. If they replace the part, you will never know it, they are surely not going to tell you.

I firmly believe they have committed "Fraud". When a company lets you believe you are getting something that it built with new parts and in actuallity they are building it with refurbished parts, they are scamming you. I might add, their computers are not cheap by any means. I do not feel you get your money's worth.

Consummer beware, things are not always what they seem. Before you buy a computer or any product do some research on it first.
