Gateway Computers
Ripoff, fraudulent practice using refurbished parts

Internet & Web

Five years ago we bought a Gateway Computer, which I might add was not cheap, it cost $2,029.90. I realize that after 5 years and with constant use parts wear out.

My problem with them is, in their adds they claim they build the computer for you. You think that you are getting new parts in the computer, "NOT". We recently replaced a PCI card, on the part was a Gateway sticker, which was loose and fell off and under it was "Refurbished Part". We paid for a new computer, not one with refurbished parts; so we thought.

I really feel they are misleading people into thinking they are getting new products and they are not. I wonder how many other people got refurbished parts?

The average person would not know this fact. On the computer tower is a silver sticker which states if the seal is broken your warranty is null and void. This way you have to send the tower back to them for repair and they will probably stick another refurbished part in it.

Their products are not cheap, so the average consummer thinks they are getting their money's worth, and they are not. This is out and out FRAUD.
