Yosion, Yosion Peel, Exquis Peel520.net claims to support iOS 5.0, most things don't work, constantly claims that it will be "fixed soon"

Electronics and household app.

Peel520.net purports that their product, Yosion Peel 520 II, will allow use of a SIM card with an iPod touch 4th generation to enable calling, texting, and GPRS-based data/web browsing. The FAQ on their website clearly states, "iOS Firmwares between 4.0 and 5.0.1 are currently supported." However, when I installed their firmware, I found that the only one of these three features that works is calling—and the calling is pretty buggy at that (random messages pop up in Chinese on some versions, sometimes can't accept calls). After some searching, I encountered their Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/Peel520net? Sk=wall

On this page, I found out that many others were reporting these problems. The company kept saying things like, a fix is on the way, or "works on our end", or that Exquis (the company that writes the software, apparently) is on vacation, or claiming that SMS (texting) is fixed in the next version—which it never is. Of course, they regularly are deleting any comments that point out that it isn't actually fixed—it's interesting to watch the post count go up and up yet the actual available posts shrink. They also have claimed that the product works perfectly with iOS version 4.3.3, but since it is impossible for most users to downgrade to this version, I can't verify whether this is actually true.

As far as I can tell, this product is unlikely to ever work for anything other than calling.

I contacted the company to request an RMA code on the condition that they take responsibility for return shipping (which I saw from UPS is in the neighborhood of $80—hardly worth it for an $120 product). I said that since their website was falsely advertising iOS 5.0.1 support, they ought to do this. They sent a generic RMA code e-mail after a few days. I responded asking if they were agreeing to pay for return shipping. After a few more days, they replied saying it was their return policy not to pay return shipping. I replied restating my point that their website falsely advertised the product, and asked why I should be held to their return policy if they could not deliver the product as advertised. They did not reply.

Altogether, it's difficult to tell if this is a scam or just an incredibly incompetent business. Either way, it's a ripoff, and if you're looking for something to extend the capabilities of your iPod touch, you should look somewhere else.
