D-link
Refuses to honor product warranty and wasted 6 hours of a customer's time

Electronics and household app.

D-link tech support kept me on the phone for over four hours "adjusting" a DIR-655 wireless router in an attempt to prove that that an obviously defective product was working properly. The router was six months into its 1-year warranty period and had worked properly in place since its purchase, but within a one-week period began to exhibit multiple and intermittent failures.

D-link tech support eventually demanded that the same settings changes and software updates be applied repeatedly with no effect and each time they promised an RMA would be issued if the procedure was unsuccessful but subsequently refused. The third time I applied the same changes unsuccessfully they blatantly lied about issuing an RMA and demanded that I try yet another change in programming which was impossible becuase the router could no longer be accessed at all. Ultimately the RMA was again refused and D-link has stopped responding to further inquiries associated with the router's serial number

The bottom line was that I wasted over six hours of my time while D-link support grasped at straws. The router retailed for less than $70. I am a veteran technology professional more than qualified to diagnose a defective broadband router and the time I spent at their behest has a fair market value of more than $600. This was an intentional and blatantly unethical effort to avoid honoring a product warranty and contacting their support department was an unadulterated waste of time.
