Electronics and household app.

On Valentine's Day a few years back I went into my local Verizon store with my girlfriend. We both had phone service with them already. She had statrted service in another city and I was past on my contract term. We told the rep that we wanted to relocate her service to Moline and put her under my contract as shared minutes. We were told this would be fine and no problem. The clerk told us that he got us a better deal on minutes also and I took the opportunity to upgrade from an analog phone to digital. I was told that the phone was rebated and all I had to pay was the difference on my next bill.

That's when it started to go downhill. My next bill was totally incorrect so I took it back down to the same clerk that helped us before. The air charges were wrong and the phone was billed at full price. We had also gotten a billing for my girlfriends phone from her old service area. The clerk was only too happy to "fix" things. The next month, again the billing was wrong. So we did the same thing and were told it was fixed. Eventually we began getting 3,4, 5 or more bills a month. Sometimes 3 bills in one week all for different amounts. Even the lady from the collection agency said Verizon was screwed up and refused further action on us. When we called Verizon "customer screwing" to find out why, we were told they had no record of the account.

Long story short, we involved the Illinois Attorney General's Office. Thankfully we got a response from Verizon stating they would clear out the account balance and we owed nothing. Unfortunately my girlfriend now has a bad credit listing from Verizon on her credit report. And she gets calls from someone telling her she needs to send in $300 but when asked who they are and who they work for they refuse to answer. To make matters worse, when I told Verizon to go take a flying leap, they wanted to bill me for early cancellation of my contract. Problem was... I never signed a new contract and they had nothing legally to force me to pay. And the original clerk that started all this lost his job during it.

If Verizon caught fire I wouldn't waste a whiz to put it out!
